Jon, look at it this way.....you know for a fact that they at least make one product very well and you love it, so at least you got that and that ain't a bad thing. Make one thing and make it well and they shall come.

I just got my container of Clubman shave soap and here is my review. First, the container is 2 oz, very small and to small to lather in. Second, the smell is good but not over powering. I put hot water on it, then used my Boar brush and found it was lathering up very quickly. I was able to bowl lather with no problem. It lasted for 3 passes without adding more water. The cushion and slickness was very good. Didn't dry out on my face. Left my face hydrated and soft. All in all, I really liked it. Usually soaps don't last 3 passes without more water and mixing and tend to dry on your face. I to really like the Clubman products. Their deodorant and talc are top of the line.

My experience was similar. I'll add; with the good slickness the small container squirted out of my hand a couple times. I'm thinking of popping the soap out and put it in a mug. It lathered fairly quick in bowl and blossomed HMW brush big time. 3 passes with just a tad of water on third. I like the soap smell it is reminiscent of 1911 balm. I like the Clubman shave oil too. A lot of times I like to use oil with my first hot towel soak, lather over that for the second soak and then lather and shave. The oil left no residue on the brush which is nice.

I believe there is a big difference in the performance of the soap vs the cream. I too will pull the soap from its small container & put it in a Pyrex bowl.

I'm willing to put it above modern Williams soap, but not by much.

I got mine in the freezer hoping that will help get it out intact.

Freezing it didn't work. It was still too soft so I scooped it out to a mug. No more self launching or dripping soap containers. The 13oz Nordic glass mug have a bigger bottom than coffee mugs so they readily take the larger soap pucks.
