Lather slut apprentice! I love it! You know I Do the same thing in a different way. All new soaps get the treatment, I like to know how it reacts to making lather and how much water it likes. I too have a test brush that's my go to brush, I palm lather all new soaps for at least 4-5 times. I find that palm lathering gives me a real good feel for how the soap is reacting to water and whipping. And after squeezing I get a feel for how much soap is needed plus the slick factor, then after rinsing how it feels on the skin. After all this , I,m ready, I know how much soap I need and how long it takes to bloom. I have not done any soap test in months so I,m excited now. Tc

    This is fantastic!!

Never thought to do the R&D part before using a soap. One of the things that really p's me off is when I don't get the mix right - and end up with either paste or bubbles as lather; hence tying the shave.

Next shave with this soap, and any in the future, going to use your routine Tc...dang, should have been doing this always.

Someone once told me most of them are alike, with which I tend to agree. Not only that, but the kaleidoscope of fruity and spicy fragrances in them completely turn me off . It has reached a point where I prefer not to spend money on them.
It's a UK made artisan soap, and is much more mildly scented than the usual USA made artisan soap.

No. Like most of the artisan soaps, there are some that are ok. But to this day I haven't found one artisan soap that I would put any higher than tier two. Just my opinion, so no need to attack, I think, there are some finer production soaps out there even cheaper than artisans that rank better. Tc

    mlucassr,

I have used a variety of Mama Bear Soaps and find them of quality. In fact, years ago I interviewed Sue Clark, the soap's creator, for a magazine article. Sue is a charming woman and a fine artist. As with all the artisan soaps I have tried, Mama Bear is a Second Tier soap for me, although one of my preferred. Good stuff, and worth the try.

Well, I've been pulled in by the soap tractor beam again. After reading this, and being able to have the Abbate Y La Mantia Shaving Soap - KROKOS
in hand at MikeB52's house, I decided this should be in my rotation. Just placed an order.
    MikeB52 and jmercer like this.
Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....
