Had my shave and it's first use so these are my first impressions.

I found the scent extremely subtle, it wasn't until my second pass that the fragrance of the saffron started to emerge, and very gently as well. It didn't leap out at me as I was fearing. That suddenly it would smell like my favourite Indian restaurant...don't know if I would have appreciated something overwhelming like that.

What struck me right off the bat was the texture and quality of the lather.

I don't like comparisons too much, as each soap is unique, and should be judged on its own merits, but the lather was very much akin to the robustness of MdC and the Castle Forbes Lavender - two Pillars of the Tier 1 in my opinion.

The feel on my skin afterwards was luxurious, I can honestly say this is one of the few soaps that left my skin well hydrated, I didn't bother to use my Esbjerg Aftershave Oil afterwards (Holy Crap Batman!!), it really is a treat for the skin.

For my next use, I'm going to load the brush up, do a few whirls in the warm scuttle to get the lather started, and let it sit for a minute or two ( I rushed the lather making this time, used the scuttle but didn't let it sit), for some reason, I find this really allows the soap to develop. I also find the first use of any new soap, usually, once its had some water allowed to sit on the puck, the next use seems to also allow the soap to come out more. Maybe it's the water penetrating and hydrating the soap?

Without a doubt this is easily a Tier 2 so far, and will have to use it a few more times, to make it to Tier 1 for me, the scent will have to really engulf the nose and stand out as wonderful to experience while shaving, blossom the way all my Tier 1's do for me to get that rating, but as far as easy, thick, creamy lather that leaves the face well nourished afterwards, this soap delivers a luxurious shave.

Going to be interesting to hear what everyone thinks of this as they arrive....so Richard or Tc should be coming up...can't wait to hear their reviews.....

    Apprentice Lather Slut Mercer here...

    Nice write up Phrank.

That increased the anticipation factor which I enjoy. TY

I just got a tracking number so far.

In the beginning after bad luck, wasted time and crummy shaves. I needed to learn to lather the different soaps & creams. Great write ups in the SRP library. I've got one brush and coffee cup that I use to do first testings/learning of soaps & creams. I play with different amounts of water, soap soaking & loading and whipping to get a feel for making proper lather. I cup lather and paint my hand and or face lather on hand to get a feel for that. Next I squeeze a glob out of brush and squish it between fingers and fist to get a feel for that. And lastly what it takes to rinse hand, brush and cup. I do the same kind of thing with preshave oils and lotions. By the time I'm done playing around I have a feel for the soap/cream. Then I can get right to the first enjoyable and proper shave.

The 1st Tier soaps/creams have required very little to make them work. This is a treat.
