Thanks again for the kind words, gentlemen. Yes, recovery will be slow, with plenty of physical therapy at my local VA hospital.

By the way, the VA medical center in Milwaukee is exceptional and I have had the best of care.

Shaving is difficult, and painful, and I'll try to do it probably every other day until the pain subsides. Gentlemen, there is nothing like the morning shave. Through the years, I have spent a fortune on razors, brushes and products, but it has been worth it.

Lucky for those of us who embrace the wet shaving ritual wholeheartedly.

The VA in Indiana is also exceptional, I have nothing but good things to say about them. As I said earlier, don't get lazy about the physical therapy it is vital. I agree with you about the
morning shave. I look forward to it with the eyes of a little boy about to get a pony. Glad to hear that it went well.

Welcome back Obie. Good to hear you got good care. My advice is to do all the rehab they tell you to do, and recovery will go faster and be more complete.

FYI, I’ve spent over half of my long life working at VA and in support to make it better everywhere. Sorry about Topeka, Earcutter. Unfortunately, some VA medical centers are great, others are not. Piss poor local leadership is usually to blame.

    Gentlemen,

Thank you for the kind words and the good wishes. Yes, I'm home now and use a walker. My first outpatient therapy was today at the VA. Indeed, my VA, The Zablocki VA Medical Center, is exceptionally well run. And the people working there are sweet, caring and helpful.

Back home, showering and shaving are a wee bit difficult and painful. For the shave, I sit part of the time, especially when lathering, and stand up when shaving. No straights for a while, though, as the pain pills dull my senses. I have plenty of safety razors to get me though. Even then, I have to be sharp enough not to nick myself. So far so good.

The soap I used today is Lea, made in Spain. There is the cream version, too. Lea has a Fern fragrance that is not overwhelming. It's quite pleasant. The soap lathers quite well. Cushion and glide are good. I have it in the Second Tier. Good stuff.
