Old spice was what I used because the kids got it for me for Christmas every year in the early 70,s unfortunately I don't have any , thanks for the memories John, and Obie, but I do have one of my gift sets left , Burma shave soap and brush , never used because the soap was to say , not my favorite, the old spice and Palmolive is what I used. But I kept it
Obie keep your threads coming, it's one of the first items I wish to read on this forum, soaps are my favorite thing about wet shaving, wishing you well. Tc

I had that Burma Shave set, still in the package and bought at a flea market for $1, but curiosity got the best of me and I opened it. The soap was low grade. The brush was horrible. I had the brush re-knotted in silvertip, and eventually sold it. I don't know what happened to the soap. I do have the mug, though.

Thanked: 4827I use mine. I had no idea that it was rare though. I got it from an antique shop for a low cost. It is a very nice soap. mine has no scent though. I often use it when I shave with one of my early 1800's razors, it just seems fitting, now if only I had a really old brush handle to go with it...

Ya know, Harry Belafonte does a song about Burma Shave. Something about a pet monkey he has who becomes jealous for his girlfriend and while he's shaving with his Burma Shave the monkey comes up behind him and pushes him into the toilet and then "pulls the chain and he goes down" and the monkey winds up with his girlfriend. Of course it's sung with a Jamaican accent and beat.
