That is a no-brainer Groomed The Works Travel Quad | Beauty@Creightons. Incredibly inexpensive, and yes, that is for all intents and purposes the company that makes Truefitt & Hill, and other English shaving creams.

My go-to travel shave cream is Nivea Original. Inexpensive, easy to lather, great scent, good lubrication. Simply the best!

This. Go with a shave stick for minimum fuss. I think the Palmolive sticks are very under-rated. At the price they go for this side of the pond, they are outstanding value. In fact even at 20x the price they would still be worth it. The lather they produce is quite hard to beat.
Having said all this, I think Nivea shaving cream in its most recent formulation (post-2012 I think) is very very good. Recently got some for my father - I managed to try it once as well. It worked very well and left my face feeling ultra soft. I will be getting some soon on my next trip abroad.

I travel regularly and contrary to your reasoning I avoid creams, as the tubes don't hold up that well when travelling, become squeezed and sometimes start oozing cream.
As mentioned before, sticks or shaving soap in containers where the lid is secure (e.g. Cella, Proraso, or Taylor of Old Bond Street tubs) are preferable.
Shaving sticks are also space savers, but try to find one that comes already in a container suitable for travel (e.g. D.R. Harris).
BTW, I found La Toja not that suitable, as the top of the container tends to come off.

Thanked: 0Well I picked up a $5 tube of C.O. Bigelow shave cream yesterday. Have had two shaves with it so far - straight & DE. For me lathering up involved a little more brush action than is the case with the other creams and soaps that I use., but was easy enough to get a good base. The menthol effect was appreciated. I think it is a keeper for the shave den and for travel. Ordered some Saint James of London cream in a tube from SRD. I will let ya know how that goes.

You should try some Cremo. It probably works as well as the Bigelow product. Cost about the same. They have original, Coconut & Mango, and menthol. Hre's the Coconut & Mango. Makes tons of soap no matter of the water being hard or not.
Semper Fi !
