Thanked: 3228Kudos to Crabtree & Evelyn
Found out a local retailer carried C&E products so I bought a puck in bowl of Nomad and a re fill puck of Moroccan Myrrh from them. The Nomad is old discontinued stock and the Moroccan Myrrh is what replaces the Nomad. The lovely scents are similar but I noticed the ingredients list were different.
The difference shows in how they lather. The Nomad is easy to lather and builds a very good lather, no complaints there. The Moroccan Myrrh is a very different story, producing a weak runny lather that dissipates quickly. Now we have a problem.
Called customer care at C&E and explained the situation. Was basically told that there was a problem with the first run of Moroccan Myrrh and they would send me a replacement puck which has a different formula from the first run. I should also return the poorly performing puck to the retailer for a full refund.
I have to give a great deal of credit to the C&E customer service rep for being up front about the problem and offering an immediate and very satisfactory solution. That kind of customer service is getting less common all the time and C&E deserve full praise.

Thanked: 59The Moroccan Myrrh is right next to my 3 other all time favorites. That is strange they produced a bad batch like that. Nice to see they handled it like they did. I use this soap when I'm going out somewhere nice.

I quite like their sandalwood. Their soap and balm more than their cream. I find the cream dries quite quickly. Nomad was a favourite of the father in law, smells nice but just isn't for me. Their shop staff are great too.

Nomad was my first shave soap & still remains my favorite scent. I use the puck I have once every 6 or 8 months. I want it to last.

I stepped into a C & E outlet store about three years ago. The Nomad smelled a lot like real myrrh-dusty wood. I also tried the sandalwood balm which was a very rich scent.

Thanked: 1082Ive read a few times the new soap formulas are a bit ropey. Im glad to hear they are sorting the problem out and your getting looked after.
Thats a touch you managed to get the Normad too.
The staff at the C & E store where I live have always been more than helpful.

Thanked: 3228Yes, I had also read on various forums that C&E or rather their soap supplier had messed up the formulation when they made the change to the new soaps a few years ago. I had also read that it was corrected subsequently and the V2 soap is a different formulation again.
The store I had bought from likely does not move a lot of stock so the had one discontinued Nomad left and probably the first run stock of the new soaps. That is why I took both to find out what is going on. Looks like the forums were correct.
Yes, I am sure impressed with their customer service. That goes a long way to getting repeat business.
