Gentlemen,
I must admit, the original scent is still my favorite Martin de Canddre. Even though the rose scent doesn't do much for me, the soap is still celestial.

MdC has all their scents in stock except Citrus, the one I wanted to try!
If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 81This summer I got a sample of the Rose and absolutely loved it. Soon after I bought a tub. It almost immediately became my favourite soap of all time. Obviously the performance is stellar, but I love the subtle scent. Previously, the MdC Fougère was my favourite, but I don't think I've even touched it since I got the Rose.
How many people in this thread feel about the Rose, that's how I feel about the Original MdC. The performance is fantastic, but the scent is not for me. Give me the Rose any day!
I have yet to try the Vetyver, hopefully I'll get my hands on a sample soon. I really don't like citrus soaps, so I won't bother trying the Agrumes.

If you like the Rose, you should like the Vetyver, Joel.
TBH, I cannot tell the difference?

Thanked: 70Tom, are you ever anything but honest?

Well, my nose cannot honestly tell the diff.
I even had the wife sniff both. She could not either? Been together too long!

This makes me scratch my head a bit, and maybe my sniffers busted?
I have the MdC rose, fougere, argumes and vetyver. Of them the argumes is the lightest scent (near nothing) followed closely by my fougere. The rose and vetyver are easily the most potent. However, I do feel my fougere has decreased in smell power in the last 4 or 5 years i've had it. Could the soaps have highly inconsistent amount of scent in them but maintain level amounts of the base soap mixture?
As far as the actual rose scent, I like it. A touch peppery and floral. Of course my only 2 other rose references are my grandmothers awful perfume and the rose bush we had when I was child which didn't smell like much.

Gentlemen,
Initially I was not all that impressed by the Martin de Candre rose scent. I found it a wee bit too anemic. In due time, though, I have grown to like it.
The Martin de Candre rose scent is far from complex; rather, it is simple and mild.
Not that I don't fancy a robust rose scent, I do, of course, but the Martin de Candre rose combined with the soap's overall performance makes this version, as with the others, celestial.

As to strength of scent, it seems to come and go as if there were swirls of it in the jar.
Sometimes it is light, almost nonexistent. Then it is back. I experience this in all flavors.
The lather is always good.
