I should have talked Vic out of a sample of his Lonestar at the meet but I didn't.

Now y'all have convinced me I have to give it a try so I have some on the way.

When I saw that you had posted on this thread I thought 'I should have given him a sample, but I can still mail him one' then I read the post and saw that you have some on the way.

I don't think that you will be disappointed with your purchase.

I might have turned down the offer since I'm trying to stay out of that particular rabbit hole.

I just have two soaps on hand so the Lonestar will make three, which will hold me for a while. I already have more razors, strops and brushes than I need but hope to be able to hold the soap bug in check.

Got to throttle back on all my other obsessions if I'm going to start up a shop!!

Used Lonestar again today. The lather has pretty minimal cushion, which I like, and very good skin nourishing effects. I got a very close shave and excellent face feel after. If I had one wish for the NO soaps, it would be that they are harder. The soap is very soft with a sticky consistency. I use all of my soaps as a stick and NO is a little harder to use this way because of this sticky consistency. A pretty small gripe that I expect would bother almost no one else.

Are you trying to stay out of the shaving soap rabbit hole in particular or rabbit holes in general. With only two-soaps on hand...you can't even call that a rotation. Perhaps you could call it a flip-flop oor toggle. If you are not going to use the same soap every day as your primary driver, you need to have a minimum of 7 soaps so you can use a different one each day of the week. Of course, if you had 31, you can use a different one for each day of the month. Even I have to admit that having enough soaps for a three month rotation is excessive. However, that has not stopped me from adding new soaps to my den. I love trying new soap formulas and new scents. Last week, I got a couple of wonderful soaps from the new artisan Murphy and McNeil. great scents and performance. I am awaiting Grooming Department Mallard Rose Chai to arrive.

Will you have enough when you have a soap for each day of the year including leap years?

But then you have to allow for soap/brush combinations as well.

If you really want to push it, you could consider soap/brush/razor combinations.

My head is starting to hurt

I'm trying to avoid any new rabbit holes, although I am now up to four soaps.

I just got serious about SR shaving about two years ago and already have fifty or so razors, ten brushes, six strops (with one more on the way), 1K, 5K, 8K and 12K Naniwa Specialty Stones, several naked blades that need scales plus a Snail Forge unfinished blade and an unfinished blade I started at the North Texas Meet. I'm trying to avoid new rabbit holes until I get naked blades dressed and unfinished blades finished.

My newest rotation schedule is a weekly rotation. I use the same soap and brush for a week at a time but razors are usually two a week with no shave on Saturday.

I like sticking with a soap for at least a week or so. You learn how to get the best out of each soap that way.

OK THAT makes sense. You have twice as many straight razors as I do, a similar number of brushes and strops, but you need a LOT more soaps to catch up with me, not that that is necessarily a good thing. It sounds like soaps are one of the few rabbit holes you have not explored. Take care and enjoy the ride.
