Thanked: 32Almond/Marzipan scented soap
I currently own and occasionally use the classic brand almond soap. I love the sweet marzipan scent but am less than impressed with its performance, I usually end up using a little unscented KMF cream with it. I know almond soaps vary a lot with regards to scent. What other soaps out there work well and smell similar to classic brand?

Thanked: 351Well, I'm sort of fond of the sweet almond scent myself but just to give you a heads up, don't go for the Trumper Almond soap, it's not actually almond but rather a sort of floral scent that I can't quite place. Apparently very old school but but no almond scent at all. D. R. Harris makes a nice Almond soap but I find this one is very much a dry bitter almond smell, very little sweetness to it so again, not what you are looking for. For now, I've settled on Taylors Almond shave cream for both scent and performance. Coates Almond cream was nice too but more muted in scent and of course no longer made. Looks like either Col. Conk or one of the artisan made soaps are your only soap choices.
Regards
Christian

When you start comparing scents its really a beauty is in the eyes of the beholder type of thing. I use trumpers almond and find it wonderful. I think it is a very pure sweet almond scent. Now thats the soap I don't know about the cream.

Thanked: 351Now I am thoroughly confused. My cake of Geo. F. Trumpers Almond soap is pink in color and distinctly floral in scent, nothing almond whatsoever (unless you were refering to almond flowers in which case I'll bow to your knowledge as I have never had the opportunity to smell an almond tree in blossom) and the fine gents over at SRP whom I trust, as my nose is less than perfect, confirmed that Trumpers Almond soap is in fact a sweet floral sort of scent. Now, Trumpers Coconut shaving soap on the other hand, does indeed smell like a delicious coconut cream pie. I don't have Trumpers Almond shaving cream but as far as I recall, it is unlike the soap and does indeed smell of almonds.

If you love almond scent, Valobra soft soap is tops in my book!!! It's soft and mold-able into the container of your choice. I use it like a soap, but it performs creamlike, lending a very slick feeling to the lather. It seems to coat the face in a protective uberlather-like feeling that is lubricating beyond belief.
Cheers,
Landis

Thanked: 43'Cella' Crema da barba
I have it and like it a lot, foams quite easily, and the marzipan scent is definitely there.

Conk Almond is a winner in my book. Smells delicious and lathers well, although you have to work a bit to whip it up. Gives a smooth shave every time.
