How do you guys like Colonel Conk's soaps. I have the feeling that it is not the best but it came with my mug. I don't seem to be able to lather so much, perhaps my technique is not as good. I have not yet started to shop for good soaps.

    Default soaps

I like the IK from Shaving Essentials. It is the best soap I have tried, however my expierence is very limited.

I like the smell and it lathers easily and shaves well.

I have sensitive skin and some of the sented soaps give me irritation.

To me, Trumper's shaving soaps seem to be custom-made for SR shaving. The skin does not get too slippery, so stretching the skin for the razor is easier than with most other soaps. The slipperiness of Colonel Conk works better for DE razor shaving though. The Trumper soaps also foam up to produce a nice lather very quickly, and the skin feels nice afterward. For SR shaving I have found nothing better. Trumper's soaps also smell very good (the rose soap is a favorite of many people)

I think Colonel Conk is very good at a much cheaper price. I have yet to check out Gentlemen's Quarter, though.

No one has said this yet, but SRD's Bulgarian Rose Otto soap is some real rich and silky soap. Love the whiff, and I like the moisturizing quality too.

I love Colonel Conk soaps. I find that the soap works best when the lather is built directly on the face. Try getting your brush wet, then put a little water on the puck, and work the brush over the soap 20 or so times in a circular motion. Then build the lather on the face again in circular motions. Make sure your face is moist and if it is not lathering well, dip the end of the brush in a handful of warm water and go at it again.

Also, it works best with a badger brush. If you are using a boar hair brush, you will not get the same lather results. I was extremely surprised at how much of a difference a badger brush can make when lathering soaps and creams.

    Good luck,

    Kyle
