So far, the best I used is Tabac.

I'm curious about Caswell-Massey 1752 Sandalwood and Almond. I just ordered them. Has anyone tried those?
I had the CM 1752 Sandalwood, and it didn't lather worth a d$#n. It ended up in my shower. YMMV, of course.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....

Funny because I just gave my Caswell-Massey almond to my wife for the shower. This stuff kept me from soaps all together until I got the courage to try another brand... Tabac... And now my creams are feeling a little left out.

Me too, I'm definitely more of a soap user now.

It's been two weeks now that I have been using Tabac and I have to admit there is no comparison to Williams. I wouldn't call Williams a bad product but the Tabac is far better. Much richer, lubricating lather, much closer shave. Looking forward to seeing how long the cake lasts.

Any of them combined with a straight shave and alum treatment and I get very few pimples in the shaving area. I now do my whole face with the shave brush and lather followed by alum for a nice wash and acne treatment. scent doesn't seem to matter, its the quality of the base that seems to count for much more.
Huge +1 on the alum. To me, it is an absolute *must have* shaving item.

Using alum after every shave, I was able to "toughen up" my face much quicker (making daily ATG passes possible without extreme irritation and bleeding). I get far fewer zits, shaving bumps, and redness when I use alum daily. I use it a bit differently than most guys, though; after cold water rinsing the remaining cream off of my face, I wet my alum block, run it over my entire face, then allow my face to air dry. If you do too many passes of the block, you'll be left with white powder on your face, but get it right, and there's just enough residual alum left on your face to absorb facial oils, and it also seems like it does a better job of soothing shaving irritation when left to air dry.

At this time I use Colleen soaps and creams from TGQ, Haven't found anything I like better for a reasonable price.

So many good soaps out there.

Floris is the best hard soap I've used yet.

I used a tube of Harris Sandalwood cream over the holiday period. Another great product that actually smells like Indian Sandalwood.

I think we should make a list of bad soaps as most products are pretty good.

For sensitive skin though, Taylors avocado cream is a fair price and supposed to be good.

    Default milling

I understand milling has to do with shredding the new soap and then reshaping usually through extruding. Why they would do this more than once escapes me.
