Proraso for me, it gives me better results than Colleen's soaps but the latter do smell better. Maybe it is the cooling of mint and eucalyptus that gives the good results.
I buy Proraso on holiday in Italy where it costs next to nothing in the supermarkets.Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr.

I have tried all kinds of soaps but the one that I always come back to is Colonel Conk's Amber shave soap.
No, it isn't the greatest stuff out there but it is rather inexpensive and lathers very well. I would say that has to be my favorite. The scent is very subtle yet it has a very nostalgic quality that almost takes you back in time. When using it, I feel as though it is a scent that was used a hundred-plus years ago. Very nice.
Also, I am into rose scented soaps as well. If you are fortunate to find a puck of QED's rose or any of QED's soaps, I am certain that you will enjoy them.
Good Luck,
Kyle

I love Colonel Conk soaps. I find that the soap works best when the lather is built directly on the face. Try getting your brush wet, then put a little water on the puck, and work the brush over the soap 20 or so times in a circular motion. Then build the lather on the face again in circular motions. Make sure your face is moist and if it is not lathering well, dip the end of the brush in a handful of warm water and go at it again.
Also, it works best with a badger brush. If you are using a boar hair brush, you will not get the same lather results. I was extremely surprised at how much of a difference a badger brush can make when lathering soaps and creams.
Good luck,
Kyle

Castle Forbes? I would assume that you have tried Penhaligon's soaps, and still Castle Forbesis #1? I would like to find one more soap to use. Creams are ok but I find that soaps are just superior. Penhaligon's is #1 for me and #2 is Tabac so it would be nice to get one more.
Take Care,

In order of preference:
Tade
Penhaligon's English Fern (there are rumblings that the latest production run of these soaps may have been reformulated and now include less tallow.)
Arran Aromatics Bay Citrus
Joris
L'Occitane CADE
Martin de Candre
T&H

Tabac and Trumpers Coconut Oil are currently my favourites. If I had to choose only one though, it would be Tabac.
