Thanked: 77Hmmm, so I'm just getting started with all this soap and creme stuff (used to just use Roffler Gentle shave creme). I like the idea of Proraso eucalyptus and menthol and I saw that uber lather demo...
I've been using Tabac, Proraso cream, and a few drops of glycerin and my bathroom smells wonderful (to me anyway). I leave the Tabac in an open bowl on the shelf. After the above comments I had to go smell. Bathroom still smells wonderful. If you put your nose right on the Tabac it smells like... well, soap. I don't think the mixture smell lingers more than a couple of hours so after that I'm assuming the smell is all from the Tabac. Room scent is definitely different from nose on soap smell.
quick side question (I know, I know). I don't need to cover the Tabac when not in use do I? I shave almost every day. Pour a 2 or 3 table spoons of boiling water on the Tabac, shower, put some Proraso and a few drops of glycerin in a bowl, lather just a bit on the Tabac, pour remaining liquid from Tabac bowl into lather bowl and make a lather in that. I suppose when I get a couple more soaps I might want lids in order to be selective with the bathroom scent.Last edited by Quick; 11-26-2008 at 09:56 PM.

Tabac is definitely one of those love it or hate it scents. My wife likes it. She leaves it uncovered on the bathroom counter as an air freshener. She keeps telling me I'll eventually get used to/like the scent, but I still think it's nasty enough to gag a maggot.
It sure is a darn fine shaving soap, though.

Thanked: 3795I've never cared if my soap got gooey. It just speeds up the loading of the brush!

I am an avid Momma Bear's soap fan. I have more than I should and love them all! MWF and Tabac are also favorites.

There are definitely some really good soaps and cremes out there and my list could be expounded upon with little effort.

How do you guys like Colonel Conk's soaps. I have the feeling that it is not the best but it came with my mug. I don't seem to be able to lather so much, perhaps my technique is not as good. I have not yet started to shop for good soaps.

Thanked: 102soaps
I like the IK from Shaving Essentials. It is the best soap I have tried, however my expierence is very limited.
I like the smell and it lathers easily and shaves well.
I have sensitive skin and some of the sented soaps give me irritation.
