Cream or Soap?
So I just had a bit of a SSAD/SCAD moment and bought some Trumpers Sandalwood cream and soap.
I've used the soap before and I love it so I got a refill for that. My girlfriend got me the Trumpers sample pack a while back and the creams were ok, but because the samples were small they had dried out a bit by the time I used them.
When I got my shave at the shop the barber used the cream and it gave a really great lather so I decided to try the cream as well! Now I cant wait to shave tomorrow morning! Give that cream a whirl..!
Basically what I wanted to know was do you prefer cream or soap (or both!) and why? I'm not looking for pointers towards a decision, just curiosity over which people prefer!

I started using soap,William's Mug Soap, and then tried C.O.Bigelow shaving cream, which i prefer now. The cream IMO seems to help the blade glide better on my face, plus i like the cool menthol feeling My intentions are to try different shaving soaps/creams but to save some valueable den space I'm lining them up and plucking them one by one

I like having both options available to me and often mix a soap and cream together.

Thanked: 235I have to say creams at the moment. But this is only because I could only find creams when I went on my last RAD safari in Australia.

Thanked: 1903I voted cream, albeit for reasons of practicality only. Incidentally, however, my favourite sources of later at the moment are http://straightrazorpalace.com/shavi...ving-soap.html, http://straightrazorpalace.com/shavi...ving-soap.html (which is really more of a cream, anyhow), and http://straightrazorpalace.com/shavi...ving-soap.html. But that is only because I have some time on my hands.

Soap all the way. I dunno why but I much prefer soap, but am force to use cream out of practicality reasons half the time though. But I love my soaps.

I like soaps. For the moment I'm into Mama Bear's. It also gives me an excuse to use the shave mug I inherited from my Granddad.

I haven't been on this forum very long, but have seen this thread many times. It's a matter of personal preference I guess. Creams are usually more thick and luxurious, while soaps are thinner and give you more feedback. SRD's Rose Otto is still one of the best soaps I've come across, while CF Lime is probably one of the best creams. Of course this can be argued. I use both, I like both. Currently, I have at least 40 in rotation. Yes, I have a big bathroom.....

Thanked: 335For effectiveness, ease of use, and consistency, I prefer creams. When I want a challenge, I do soaps. I'm definitely not a lather wizard.
