I like them both Dude!, Churley does samples, certainly worth a try in cream and soap. Wouldn't no where to begin describing the scent except that it is MANLY!

I love TGQ Cavendish Black and it doesn't hurt my skin at all.

I would say what you should try is this:

Whip up some CB lather and put a little on your neck in the area where you shave and let it sit for a minute or five. Rinse it off like you would after a shave and see if it irritates your skin without the shave.

It does affect some folks but very few as I recall.

I think I'll just go with the CB...

Can anyone give me more info on the smell of Leatherneck?

Like others have said, I have no idea how to describe it other than that I like it. I've never tried CB but I hear it's awesome and would like to try it. Maybe I'll get a sample of it sometime.

Might ask for a sample of Leatherneck from someone or buy a sample or 1oz from TGQ when you get the CB.

I have used both soaps and they are both exquisite scents. It is true that for me a few uses of the CB makes my skin tingle. Not so the leatherneck. I have a sample of the CB cream and although it doesn't irritate my skin the same way, it also doesn't quite smell the same either. The only way to know for sure is to try it for yourself. I doubt you'll regret it. I don't.

It's warm, slightly vanilla and slightly musky with citrus undertones. A must for me.

Here's another slew of questions... I know I prefer CB in soap, but with Leatherneck, is it better as a Soap or a cream... Also, Savon de Comte/Savon de Campagne, which is better (That's the soap, or the cream variation of the same thing) and, lastly, Highlander, soap, cream, either, what's the dominate smell of Highlander?

    Thanks, guys

The leather neck is a very warmth, lingering leather scent. I have the cream and the cologne. Id say I like them together when Im feeling extra gentlemanly and its a bit cold outside.

No issues with the scents bothering me. Ive had the issue with a couple samples, but not often. I feel TGQ offers a notch up in quality over most of the "artisan" products.

Lastly, the creams are a beast all their own. They contain a decent amount of tallow, and have wonderful cushion with matching slickness. However, they dont lather much. What lather you do get is very dense, but very close to the skin.

I'm sitting here with my nose buried in my soap dish that has leatherneck in it and the best description that I can come up with is a spicy smooth scent. It doesn't overwhelm but you definitely know it's there.

I'm fairly poor at describing scents so perhaps others want to weigh in here. Regardless, I really like the scent, but I don't exactly agree with the visions of a marine in his uniform as an accurate description.

I think I might pick Leatherneck over Cavendish Black at with your descriptions (XMan and ATG)
