I just bought some of their sandalwood cologne for cheap - figured it's worth a try.

I picked up a puck of the almond shave soap from a local chemist. Never tried it before and when I looked at the reviews on this and other sites I figured I had just wasted $10, but I tried it when I got home and honestly I thought it was fine.
It quickly whipped up into a really nice thick lather in my mug. The almond sent is very strong from the puck, but is then extremely subtle in the lather. I don't mind this since generally I don't want my lather to carry too strong a sent such that it carries over into my post-shave treatments. I like my sent to come from the AS.
Many reviews said that the lather disappeared almost immediately when applied, but honestly I did not experience this. The lather wasn't permanent, but it faded away about as I would expect a lather to fade away. I'd rather a lather 'melted' down to nothing as the water evaporates than have the later leave a dry foam on the surface of the skin--something I find happens with products that proclaim super lasting lather.
I wouldn't say it was the most amazing soap ever, but I was happy with what I got for $10. At the very least, I didn't see why this got such negative reviews from so many people. Anyone else out there not think this soap was bad?

This is an old thread started back in July, and someone posted again in Oct...
On a personal note, I've never tried C&M because of all the bad reviews.
That fact that you like it, and got good results is all that matters...Last edited by zib; 12-24-2010 at 02:50 PM. Reason: typo

The 1752 sandlewood shaving soap can't even compare to lowly Williams, truely an awful product, however this is just my opinion, But easily the worst soap I have tried.
