Thread: Williams Shaving Soap Users

Today the Williams shaving shop came to my mail box.
I believe I am the first and only guy in my country using for the first time this soap.
I was fascinated from this retro feeling that accompanies this soap.
I put it into hot water within its bowl for a couple of minutes as I routinely do with almost all my soaps. I used a bristle brush and it made good leather in the first minute. I continued to work the brush in the mug for a couple of minutes and then I spread it on my face.
I have to say that it disappears after 2-3 minutes. I couldn’t finish a pass without repeating to spread it on my face. However, I had e descent shave with my King Cutter.
Not bad for a 1840 receipt after all.

I received two pucks of Williams today in a trade. I soaked a puck in a mug whilst in the shower (along with my Omega 31064), drained the water when I got out then went to town on it for a good couple of minutes. I then face lathered for a couple more minutes, intermittently dipping the tip of the brush into the hot water.
Result? Thick, creamy lather - enough for three passes. My face feels really soft. Very impressed.

"The Great Escape" (1963)
(Donald Pleasence) Flt Lt Colin Blythe "The Forger"
to new prisoner
(James Garner) Flt Lt Hendley "The Scrounger"
handing him a mug
"Sorry it's a bit weak, old man, but I've used these tea leaves twenty three times"
I think it is about time they remade this film as "The Great Scrape", and we may have found the perfect hero to play Flt Lt Blythe! - I really am seriously impressed.Last edited by Blackpool; 02-05-2011 at 10:25 PM.

Fred's has it for a dollar a puck, if you have a Fred's discount in your area. I got six 55 cents off coupons from williams and bought six at Fred's for .45 a puck, now that's cheap. By the way I LOVE Williams, great stuff and I have 12 stocked for use, even supply my grandson.

I just bought my first puck here in Canada, I used it this morning and I liked it, the scent reminded me of my DR Harris Arlington soap, the lather is not as rich as the DRH but its not bad at all, definitely earned a spot in my rotation

I just got my first razor on Wednesday and, up until this morning, wasn't able to get a good lather made. The difference was that today I'd watched a video of how to lather Williams soap up. I must say, it did lather! I was quite pleased to see the stuff shooting out of the tea cup I used as my de facto shaving mug!

I too use Williams. I have found one thing to be true. It loves soft water. The performance drops in hard water but not much. It tends to disappear faster in hard water. Overall I think its a decent soap. Super slick. A little light on the cushion. For a buck twenty-five I pick up a puck whenever it dies so I have one on hand when I want some.
Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?

Thanked: 375I like this soap, now that I can get a good lather out of it. The scent I read is Lavender, Rose, and Lemon for anyone who didn't know...
