Williams fans unite!
I love the Williams! I have tried lots of designer soaps and always go back to it. It seems to be very consistant. I do, however chuck it out as the puck gets less than 1/4 inch thick as it seems to lose lubricity and the lather dries really fast. Anyone else have that issue? I nab it at Kroger for 99 cents.I usually buy all they have and pray they reorder! Sometimes I think soaps are like razors! There IS a certain prestige, I expect, that goes with a 20 dollar puck, a 400 dollar razor and a 150 dollar brush! If it is no better, we will never hear about it! Cheers!

It's all I used to use, before straights, and using a DE only...And an old cheapie brush...
Williams served me well. It is, or used to be, Tallow based...which is the good stuff guys, It did kinda dry up fast on your face though......I have an old, old case of Williams, unopened...Last edited by zib; 11-15-2010 at 05:42 PM.

Williams-The PBR of the wet-shaving world...But seriously, now that I've had my puck for a few weeks, it has become my "shower puck" for a quick face-lather and shave in the shower when that's all I have time for (most mornings). I've grown to like the Murphy's Oil Soap scent, and it makes gobs of lather, though it does seem to dry quickly. Still, a good, cheap, get the job done soap. I'd like to try the vintage sometime. Nice haul, Zib-You're ready for the apocalypse.
There are many roads to sharp.

Whenever I see a williams thread sometimes something falls through the cracks that I wanted to point out. Williams soap was reformulated somewhere in the 70s (date) and therefore isn't even close to the soap of yesteryear. This is why williams had such a big following back in the day, it was tallow based, had huge thick lather peaks, etc. The soap for sale after then, currently, isn't even close to the same.
Get an old puck of williams and see the difference...

I dont know about the old formula but the williams I am using cant be beat for the money. Now I have not ventured out to get a "high end" soap so I can not say that its the best soap out there. At just about 2 bucks how can you go wrong.

I've tried about 10 pucks of new Williams over the past few years and I could never get a good shave from it, the shave also left my neck red because it lacked protection...
Usually I end up frustrated and throwing the puck in the trash after about a week of trying to get results from it..I would use it as bath soap but my wife thinks it smells like bug spray.
YmmV!
