    Default Bairlea Farms Shaving Soap

When I got home last night, I had two packages waiting for me.
I love getting stuff in the mail, It's like Christmas. Of course, SWMBO doesn't think so. I'm wearing out the, "I'm testing this soap" or " I'm sharpening this razor for somebody" She's starting to see that I never send anything back....I really was testing soap this time, but.....

One was a new Dubl Duck Goldedge...Perfect condition, Sweet Shaver. One of my all time fav's...And....

A friend of mine, and member, deighaingeal, sent me a puck of Bairlea Farms Shave Soap to try. "Nectarine" TBH, I'm always skeptical of homemade, or Artisan shave soaps. I've been disappointed many times. I think the worst is the Goat's milk soaps I've tested. I've had lot's of trouble with those. They all fall flat. If anyone knows of a good Goat's milk shave soap, please let me know, and I'll be glad to review it.

This soap comes in a very unassuming package, Wax paper and a label. I put the puck in one of my glass soap dishes, wet it, and went to work.
With little effort, my Thather started building lots and lots of lather. It was pouring over the edge of the bowl. This is the quickest I've ever seen a soap do that. I transfered what I had to my scuttle. Some soaps aren't even scuttle worthy, you have to face lather.

Not this one, I was able to build loads of rich, creamy lather with very little effort. I added maybe a tablespoon of water, total, whipped for maybe 45 seconds. It held up real nice. I applied it to my face, and went to strop my razor. When I got done, I looked in the mirror, and all the lather was still there. None had disapated. So far, So good..

I applied a hot towel for about 30 seconds and re lathered. This stuff provides great cushion and nice glide, It has a very freshing nectarine fragrance. Plently of protection, no irritation, no razor burn. I'm not sure of the ingridients, but I'm betting it's tallow based. (I was wrong, glycerin)

If you go to Bairlea's website, you'll see that they're sold out. They only have 3 shave soaps to choose from. I guarantee you will not be disappointed by this one. I would most definitely buy this one again.

I'll have to a formal review.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a small gesture with all you have done for me.

I started a review the other day, but I'm heading out for anniversary dinner (you'll have to search).

I too approached this soap with hesitance as I have tested many soaps for members and few have been viable let alone become a staple in my rotation. For me there is nothing better than a quality product that requires no work. I like to know that I have a backup when I get a shave that has gone bad.

As I say ........ Dont be skeeeeerd. lol Its takes a straight razor shaver to make soap suitable for straight razor shaving soap. I dont want to talk much about it untill(assuming) i become a vendor here. Im currently working on a goats milk soap but it doesnt look promising.

    Heres the review

I've used the cucumber/melon and nectarine soaps, and feel lucky to have them in the house. The nectarine, especially... the scent is just right.

I've reviewed them both; the nectarine review is here and the cucumber/melon one is just above that.

    It's very nice stuff.
"These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

Thanks for the write-up Rich, very nice! But I wouldn't expect anything less from The Soap and Cream Guy...

I'll back you on that one. I like them both, but the nectarine is my favorite.
