I have two mama bear soaps and love them both!

In my opinion, if you can only buy one, MWF or Tabac is a proven performer.

If you're only buying one, and you want to go with a bang, try the Candre or look up Domenico Caraceni. Very expensive, but absolutely amazing.

If you buy them one-at-a-time and carefully hide them, go with everything suggested in this thread. You'd be amazed how many soaps you can hide by using identical soap dishes and only ever having one on the bathroom counter!

    Gentlemen:

What a fabulous selection of soaps you have offered: Mitchell's Wool Fat, Tabac, Cella and scores of others. I have tried many of them and must concur with your assessment of their quality.

I am especially fond of French soaps, such as Provence Sante Verlaine, Institute Karite and L'Occitane Cade.

If choosing one particular soap over all the others, however, I would have to wink at another French lovely: Martin de Candre.

    Regards,

    Obie

There is no shaving cream or shaving soap No.1 in the world. It is very personal choice. But! There is a wonderful selection of soaps named. I think one should try from this selection as much as possible. It is especially important for those, who joined straight razor shaving recently. It's an opportunity for them to chose their own soap or cream.

Well, like Bill and lotīs of others here - Martin de Candre, hands down, if I had to only use soap for the rest of my life it would be MdC. But itīs picey. Lots of good soaps out there though. Since we live in Sweden/Europe, you can PM me and maybe I can help you to find a soap that fits your budget and needs (if I can). My top 5: MdC, Nannys (British soap maker), Provence Sante, Henks (Dutch soap maker) and Cella.

I'm in Canada. One of the local supermarkets carries a shaving cream called "Kaloderma", made in Germany.

I like it -- it has a mild chamomile scent -- and it's really cheap. Your girl won't complain. If you can find it in Sweden, try it out.

So I finally ordered a new soap today together with an After Shave gel.
I decided to go with Mama Bears Lavender and Mint Glycerin Shaving Soap together with Taylor of Old Bond St. Sandalwood Luxury After Shave Gel.
I just hope I will be happy with it.
