I love my Mama Bear soaps but shipping may be brutal. If I had discovered them first I might never have tried another soap.

Just got some samples of mama bear's soaps... it's like a lather bomb went off. BOOM. Okay goodnight now.
Peace,

PMH,
Choice of soaps etc, like almost everything shaving, is a very personal decision.
For me, Cella is the best performing lather product I have ever used in 25 odd years of wet lather shaving
Others will disagree
Just try some soaps at random ( based on suggestions here at SRP etc) , and you will have a most enjoyable time of it
Godd luck and good shaving with your choice
Have fun !
Best regards

'Don't want to be indelicate, but in your issue w/ TOBS soaps, do you grip the brush by the handle or the knot when you try to load the brush? Also, do you let some warm water sit on top of the puck before you try to load the brush? I ask, 'cause I had a low opinion of a really good soap (Pre de Provence) because I had a hard time getting good lather. In my case, it was purely user error. It was a hard, triple milled french soap - which is notorious for needing some work to get a brush loaded and lathered. After that discovery, I've liked PdP alot. I like Provence Sante better, but PdP is very good. I HAVE tried the TOBS cream, and it's insanely easy to lather.

I use the Col Conk Almond, which goes with some sandalwood cream i picked up from vintageblades LLC. If you find a good almond or sandalwood after shave balm, let me know please!

Thanked: 240Fitjar.... Lathers great for me, and has a wide range of manly scents. I believe it is Norwegian so you might not get killed on the shipping. For an aftershave I haven't found any better than ogalala bay rum's... They make a sandalwood that I just used minutes ago.

I haven't seen it mentioned once, it's a sleeper, but a great soap none the less. Try La'Occtaine Cade. it will blow you away. I'm not really a soap guy. I like shave creams better, but this soap is amazing. I've bought so many different different soaps, and have been disappointed, but this one made up for all that...Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. The other one I really like is SRD's Bulgarian Rose Otto, but I hear they're out of stock....
Also, The best/strongest Sandalwood AS Balm I've come across is Taylor of Old Bond St. Sandalwood Luxury Aftershave Gel. It's alcohol free, Witch Hazel based. It's also thick, like vasaline. You only need a small amount to do the job. The fragrance is fantastic. My wife loves when I wear this. It last's too...If you splash water on your face a few hours after you've applied it, It refreshes it. Good stuff....
P.S. The nice thing about La'Occtaine is they have retail shops in many of the shopping malls in America, so if there's one near you, no shipping costs.....
If not, it is available online...Last edited by zib; 04-24-2011 at 01:30 PM.

Thanked: 23I just got my Martin de Candre yesterday and, yes, it is everything that people say. Other soaps I would be happy to have as my "only" soap are eshave, L'Occitane Cade, Cella, MWF and Penhalgion's English Fern. Trumpers coconut also a fantastic product but not sure if I could take the sweet smell every single day.

If spending money is an issue try Arko. Cheap and cheerful tallow based shaving soap from Turkey, probably available in a Turkish shop near you.
