What does Cella smell like? I'm in the market for another cheap soap. It's what I love about wet shaving. I can try different stuff and really have very little money in it.

They say almond but it is not a clear almond scent.
I have the P.160 and the Figaro cream and they both smell almond without any doubt.
Cella smells very different; for sure it is not a clear almond scent. This soap has a particular and original scent that cannot be found in any other soap (at least known to me).
It cannot tell that Cella has a nice scent. With time I got used to it and now I like it, but I remember the first time that I bought it I was saying that it smells like … petroleum.

I have the 1Kg block. The bulk of which is in the fridge, wrapped in cling film. It's only a matter of time before a visitor decides to try a bit of marzipan.

It sounds as if your Cella may have turned, or is starting to. Fresh Cella is bright white with a distinct almond scent. Very similar to P160, however that has a bit of a cherry scent mixed in that is absent in Cella. Funny thing is, even turned Cella performs well. Not as well as fresh, but still better than most other soaps!

I have been thinking this from the first day I bought it.
This is because my cella was not clear white as described but light brown with white spots.
Another thing is that I bought it from an old drugstore with very slow business going on, and I cannot say that I would be surprised if you told me that my cella was waiting for me there for over 5 or 6 years.

In order to prevent these type of soaps to turn yellow (basically, any tallow based soap will unavoidably get rancid and yellow) just keep in the refrigerator. This is what I do with my Cella, P.160, Vitos, Tabac and all the other tallow based soap. They will keep almost forever and will not lose their aromas as well.

How long does it take for tallow based soaps to turn? I have a Cella, MWF and Tabac, but I've only had each for a few months...
