This thread has inspired me to try more soaps. I just ordered a bunch of samples, including the following:
    Trumpers Coconut Shaving Soap
    Trumpers Sandalwood Shaving Soap
    DR Harris Almond
    DR Harris Arlington
    DR Harris Lavender
    DR Harris Marlborough
    Irisch Moos
    TOBS Jermyn Street (cream)
    Cella

And at lunch today I wandered over to one of the two T&H locations that are within a few minutes of my office. The woman was very helpful when I asked her about the Sandalwood Cologne and insisted I try it, even though they had no samplers. I'm still on the fence, as I find it a bit sweet, but I did walk out with something.

    Just for you, Obie.

Lucky guy, I'd love to have a shop of the calibre of T&H here in Edmonton! But since they don't even have a shop in Vancouver I think it will be a long time until we see them out west.

I haven't been to T.O. for a few years, maybe it's time for another visit........

Sounds like a good idea. If you come down, maybe we can get a few of the guys out. We just had a great get-together not too long ago.

    ....snip....
A week after you give all those samples you
will have to take a bank loan out to get one of each
in the full size and a spare puck.

    Good list.

    They're that good, eh?

I must admit, I already have a sample of Arlington, but threw in another just because I was making the order, anyway.

To be fair there are reasons for all the different products.

The value of sampling quality products as you are doing
can save years of testing.... A good hard milled shave
soap puck can last six months. To work your way through
ten different good soaps can take five years... Samples and
friends to compare notes with are a good thing.

Six months? That's a very conservative estimate, and likely based on the assumption it is the user's one and only soap. C'mon, who around here only has ONE soap????

All joking aside, I have several soaps in my rotation and am nowhere close to finishing a single puck, so while niftyshaving's point is very valid I would guess it would take quite a while longer than he guessed to make your way through all those full sized "samples".

It is definitely fun. I like my samples and my MWF sample has sure been lasting me, despite me using it for practice lathering and also breaking in brushes. I found a handful of very cheap, small white porcelain sugar bowls with lids at a dollar store which are perfect for my soap samples
