Joris shaving soap
Gentlemen:
I have used Joris shaving soap for a number of years, but I have not commented on it. It's oversight more than anything else, I think. Nor have I read much about this soap. Joris is exquisite in every respect, from its moist and luxurious lather to its smooth glide and exceptionally comfortable cushion. I love the soapy clean and subtle fragrance of it, too. It had been a while since I had used it. I used it yesterday, wondering why on earth I had neglected it in my stash. If I were to name my top five soaps at this moment — there are several threads on this topic — they would have to be thus in order of preference: Martin de Candre, Joris, Mitchell's Wool Fat, D.R. Harris and Savon du Midi. Joris is luxury delicious. Anyone try this delightful shaving soap?

I have Plisson soap. I believe they're the same, correct? Good stuff, very slick.

Michael, from what I understand, they are the same soap but in different clothing, or in the general neighborhood, at least. I have never tried Plisson, so I can't say. Joris is made in France. I read somewhere — or was I imagining? — that Plisson is actually made in England. Would that make them different soaps I don't know. I have heard good things on Plisson, too.

Thanked: 1195Thanks for the write-up, Obie. I've certainly heard of Joris, but I've never tried it and it never seems to be discussed. Sounds like it's very underrated 'round these parts... of course we'll leave it to you to change all that

So I've heard that plisson and joris are the same. If it's true then joris is a remarkable soap, both of them seem to be highly underrated.

Good work, Michael. Yes, from the looks of things, they do seem similar.

I'm curious, has Joris shaving soap been discontinued ? It's hard to find anywhere and when you do it's out of stock. I agree it is a superb soap I've had in rotation for about three years.
