Well not just one but two. I have a number of others I like to play with from time to time but it seems for the last couple of months it is either MWF or IK. IK is my benchmark. It gives me the closest and smoothest shave but either of them leave my face smiling and without need for further processing. As time passes and my skills improve the performance of some of the others improves. I think for a lot of us beginners the entire experience is so intoxicating it takes time to settle down and develop somewhat more objective opinions of the experience and its components. I am slowly coming to the point of differentiating what element is causing which effect. Soap, cream, strop, steel, grind, hot towels, preshave, aftershave..... so many choices so few whiskers. In another 30 years the entire pastime will likely distill to one blade, one soap, and one scent for me. I will become one with the shave.

I definitely have a problem when it comes to soaps and creams. So many good one's out there. I need to down size. Commercial brands though. I'm not a fan of the homemade or artisan stuff. Most are disappointing and end up getting thrown away, or used in the shower.

I got on a kick with shaving sticks , just had to have some. My collection has grown to the point where I actually have a problem deciding which I will use. It really kind of sucks! I think I'm looking for that scent that best represents me, and I haven't found it yet, oh well guess I'll keep looking.........

Do you have any trouble rinsing that out of your brush after lathering up?

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

No, because I only have 3 or 4 creams. My straight money goes to hones & razors. I like Nomad the most, but I'm out & the Crabtree & Evelyn Stores around here have closed. I will have to order on line next month.

I enjoy trying different soaps and creams when I can. However, I will always keep a tub of TOBS Lavender and a tube of Arko in my shave den.

You can take the boy out of NY, but you can't take NY out of the boy.
