I read it when I was maybe 19, before the whole genre thing. I also like Leaf by Niggle and maybe a related book to LOTR, in a way, 'The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever'. Also, In Virconium, which is really nice fantasy, very different at the time, maybe a little like Dune...
Today's workout was two hours of bouldering, as it is EVERY Saturday. here's another show off video of me working a problem I made up.

Was in the gym today.
A great workout.
I plan to up the weight on a couple of the sets.
:tu
Lifted lasted night. 1 hour. It was an accomplishment since I was so dang tired when I got home from work. Upped my max weight on a few lifts too. Still wussy amounts, so I wont say how much.
7km easy running for me today.
24 miles on a bike and I didnt go anywhere.
Agreed! If I had the money though, I would buy a really bloody good exercise bike, one that has a seat that raises up to an acceptable working height and sit in in front of my old crappy downstairs TV with my first generation Xbox set up to it. I could exercise all day then I reckon. Even better would be to make the wheel of the bike a flywheel charging a battery that would run the TV and Xbox. Believe me when I say I thought about creating a setup like that...Along with a Pedal powered Amateur (Ham) radio :).

Another walk today, I used it as an opportunity to take some photos of Midland for a friend who wanted.to know what where I lived was like.

We are a railway town, so I thought this piece of graffiti appropriate.
I have a real good bike downstairs in front of a 60 " TV WITH XBOX and ps3. Helps the hour go by. Currently catching up on Sons of Anarchy, which I never watched before.
Standard Monday workout today at lunch time:
Bench presses, 40 x 10, 10, 50 x 8, 8, 60 x 7, 6
Leg Presses 95 x 20, 20, 105 x 15, 15, 115 x 15, 15
(no rest between exercises (i.e. Bench presses and leg presses), two minutes rest between supersets.
Bench presses, 50 x 8
(two minutes rest)
Body weight dips, 15, 13, 12
This took only 30 minutes today, less than last week.
I tried for two sets of seven on the bench presses but couldn't do it, so did a couple of partials after the 6 full reps.

Hey, BTW, I just watched that video nzFuzzy posted and it reminded me of a thing I USED to be able to do, (for you fit young people) I hope I describe it well enough...
Sit cross legged on the floor.
Place your arms to your sides, palms down on the floor, fingers facing to the front.
Extend your arms to raise your body off the floor, legs still crossed.
Legs still crossed, rotate your body under control so your forehead gently touches the ground.
As you do this, uncross and extend your legs so you do a head stand.
This takes a lot of shoulder strength, and I think requires long arms (which I have, my 'wing span' is greater than my height).
Remember, I USED to be able to do this, I can't now!
I used to do that and many other feats of core body strength when I was younger too. :) You must be having an influence on me Carl, because I shot off an email to a local 24/7 gym enquiring about fee's.
Mick
That's the ticket. Follow it through. And you can always start at home. Plus, diet is really important and it doesn't cost anything to tackle that!
Remember, follow it through...
[EDIT] and Ed has a point, I find casual membership a good option (pay per visit), but sometimes laying down cold hard cash for a membership is a motivator in it self...
Yep Ed's got a point, especially about farts :). I think the local gym has a casual payment plan that's why I'm enquiring. I don't want to be paying for six months or a year in advance, and my weight set at home is not going to be enough in the long term.
Mick
It got cold outside so I did 30 minutes on the Airdyne. Good part is I do arms and shoulders as well.
I didn't feel like working much today, so I had an early run instead.
Felt a wee bit sluggish today, so I only did three sets of pushups, three sets of squats before running a slow-paced 10K.
That took care of any sluggishness and left me feeling fresh and ready for whatever the day will throw at me:)
Working late keeps me away from proper training. So I ran 5km on an easy pace.
Ready to watch the Champions League!
My workout was exactly the same as last Thursday's workout; I won't bore you with the details. Monday I start my new job; so no more lunch time workouts. I'll add another day bouldering to make it three days of bouldering; and maybe go to the gym on Sundays, if SWMBO allows it. Otherwise it's a weights workout in the lounge room with an EZ curl bar and doing pushups on three chairs.
Got some protein powder today, a very low carb one; 388 Calories per 100 grams and 80 grams of protein, 5.5 grams of carbs, no sugar. It's 96% whey protein concentrate.
For fuel today all I had is a protein shake before the workout, another after, followed by a can of herrings and one Kiwi fruit.
Today's Workout... who knows. The weather has cleared so hoping to get out and do another 9km in the hills.
Over the past 3 months I have decided it is time to lose some weight and go in search of some fitness.
So far I've lost 10kg (about 22 lb) and walked about 200 km (about 125 miles - as fast as I could, no strolling ;) )
Each day I am aiming for a minumum of 3 quick sets.
pressups, oblique crunches and squats.
Started with sets of 20. Now doing sets of 30 (occassionally adding in dumbell swings of 15kg to the squats)
Other than that it's mainly been walking. Round the streets when it's been a bit wet and up in the hills when the weather is kinder.
Managing a 5km street walk in about 38 mins.
5km (2km up with lots of stairs) in the hills in 45 mins.
9km (4km up including those damn stairs) in 90 mins.
All in all this exercise thing seems to be doing me some good. :D
Have managed to start eating more sensibly and cut down on the alcohol.
Weight is down. Resting heart rate and blood pressure also down.
Lower cholesterol levels and related blood tests.
And... there's a variety of clothing from the back of the wardrobe that is seeing daylight once again.
3 months done... Hopefully a longer lifetime of regular exercise.
1 mile open water swim, water temp 11oC 27mins, 8 miles off road on the MTB.
I work as an Education Coordinator in a prison. My background is teaching computing, I got a job as a Training Quality Assurance Officer in Head Office for a while.
No, the food was what I ate during the day, for tea I had 'Kofka balls', cabbage and sweet potato. So the workout was fueled by not much at all. I've lost almost all the fat on my body, my 'love handles' fat on my stomach, around my pecs, etc.
I was about 79 kilos a little over a year ago, and now I'm about 68 and still have the same strength and muscle mass. So, now I can do chinups with 7.5 kilos hung on a chain from a weight belt, which when I think about it it's moving the same amount of mass, except some of the mass isn't part of me any more!
Today's workout is Done. :D 8.9km in 83 mins.
300m climb in the first 2 km.
Work out on Friday was 4 hours of chainsawing, 2 hours of cleaning up, 3 hours of whipper snipping, 30 minutes of tractor servicing and another 30 of bobcat offsider ripping out tree stumps from earlier chainsaw session...
