Sounds like a recipie for disaster, esp if they are using their legs as brakes too.

I recently got a fuji 29er (29" wheels) mountain bike for getting to and from work, doing just short of twenty miles a day. It's amazing how quick the fitness builds up.

I suppose most folks still run multi-geared stuff out in the woods, but I don't miss the complexity and fragility.

hammer on--now is the time we ride!

29" wheels, I thought you only really saw them on road bikes, but I am very out of touch and really don't know much about much other than what I have.
I did used to have a really nice Peugeot 15 speed racer that I loved, it cost me.£15 though that was 20 or so years ago. I killed.it by cycling.into the back of a.parked.car - that's the trouble with drop handlebars I suppose. I also smashed the back window of the car with my chin, hence the big scar on it.

I used to do about 15 miles a day to and from work, a few miles 3 nights a week for nightschool and then weekend rides too, I moved to Australia and rode about double that to and.from work most days for quite a while but eventually I got a work van. As I said I am slowly getting back into it now.
I will be back in Perth in a week and a bit, so will try to remember to take some photos.
I will say now that it really doesn't look flash, a crappy paintjob prevented cycle theft in London.
