Thread: Take a drive with the Gasman

I wasn't sure if this was the right place to put this thread so I took my best guess. Please move it if its not in the right place.

This was just another day at the office for me.
The conditions were not too bad so I went for a few picture to show some of the flat lander's and folks closer to the equator what its like in the mountains of Colorado. As I've said previously, this is what I do. Drive the mountains of Colorado delivering FUEL. So keep in mind that I'm dragging a bomb around with me at all times. When its empty it will go boom but loaded it just springs a leak and causes many thousands to clean up. I know, some folks are going to say that I shouldn't be taking pics while driving but keep in mind I've been doing this for over 30 years and I would never in bad conditions.
So here you go. A little drive with the Gasman...



That last one is showing the real temp. -20 degrees.

When there is a lot of wildlife in an area they build 6 foot wire mesh fences along the roads and build these crossing bridges for the wildlife. I've seen many a dear and elk on them.



I don't like taking pics in the dark but I'm rolling by 3am and its much worse. They haven't cleaned the roads, Visibility is minimal and if there is 4 inches of ice with 8 inches of snow on the road, or if a blizzard came thru and the road has 14 to 18 inches of snow on it, I'm still driving. People want the fuel so I got to go. We don't take days off as a company unless people quit buying fuel. And you can figure that's never going to happen.

I was fortunate enough that Gasman had shared his occupation with me complete with a description of some of the winter time driving hazards. The pictures really expand on what he'd told me.

Just be glad you are not a milkman and can run with baffles in the trailer!

Me Three! However I wanted to find an outtake from Bill Engvall's bit about taking his wife deer hunting but could not.

In it as they are driving along and his wife sees a Deer Crossing Sign and says something like this: "Bill, why do they put those signs out? Deer can't read". and Bill replies "No they can't, but they do recognize pictures of themselves".

Your absolutely correct! I have many baffles and seporate compartments. Food grade trailers cant have baffles because of sanitation is easier in one large tank.

I grew up on a dairy farm, so our milkman was the guy who came every other day to haul the milk away. In the winter, if the weather was bad, he never would fully empty his truck. That way if he got stuck in a snow drift, and there used to be a lot of them in the 60s and 70s in Minnesota, he would just rock that tank of milk back and forth and he said as long as he timed his shifting right he could get through anything!
