    Default Well hello hanging strop!

Tried the hanging strop for the first time today...felt like I was taking the training wheels off for sure! but boy it is way easier than stropping on the counter!

    Gentlemen,
For me, stropping on the counter is as romantic as sipping lemonade with a Hollywood starlet instead of champagne. Birds were meant to fly, fish to swim and strops to hang — or something like that.

I am also a fan of the hanging strop for use on straight razors.
I admit that it took quite some time to get a good working understanding of the versatility of the hanging strop.
My bench and paddle strops see a lot of use for knife sharpening.

    It's:

"Fish got to swim, birds got to fly,"... Can't help lovin' Dat [hanging] strop oh mine.

For all those gents who'll admit they are... uh, show tune loving lol.

Ah yes, earcutter, that's from Showboat — Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II — a wonderful musical. I think time has come for a musical on the hanging strop, titled The Golden Strop — or something like that.

Of course we could also have Obie star in "Obie vs Stropzilla". It would be an instant classic. Sub plot would be Phrank and his flying W & B's against Honilla.
