The under $100 bogie changes the game...
My first thought is a TM Heirloom Artisan Horsehide with linen second.
But as I think about living with just one strop, I am inclined to consider the SRD modular paddle. I use a board strop when honing (Kanoyama) because I hone all over the place and a hanging strop isn't convenient, so the paddle might work well if I could have only one. Thank goodness that isn't the case!!

SRD Roo! It gives me the best tension of any strop I've owned allowing my to feel the blade on the leather better. One great strope!
It's a dog eat dog world and I have on milk bone underwear.

My SRD Lynn Abrams modular. It comes with everything needed and will see you into your next lifetime. And you can sit down and relax while stropping.

this an idea I have never thought of , i kinda like the thought of being in the same seat and stropping after a finish hone .. i usually hone a few at once then go over to the hanging strops and strop away ..
as far as strops go i don't have much experience other then my 2 SRD strops , i like them both but the brown leather seems to have more draw that i like more .. in a previous post i was happy to see a breakdown of the many choices and difference in feel between the buffalo , roo, and horse .. as i was looking at them the other day ..
