Tony,
As I mentioned in my PM, that paddle strop sounds awesome. Can't wait to see pics of the razor stand too.
Just so you know, I have no real plans to travel with my strop right now - so whatever version of the Latigo that you think is best on my strop then go with that one. I was just curious how people do travel with their gear. I know from our conversation that you aren't really for it. I probably would only travel with my straight gear on trips longer than a week; and I only have one or two of those a year. From yours and others recommendation I would either just take my paddle wrapped in bubble-wrap or lay my hanging strop flat also wrapped in bubble-wrap. I could see placing the strop between pieces of cardboard or in some sort of shipping box that I could put in my luggage.
Thanks again for the advice.

Tony, I'd be interested in that travel strop too. Please let us know when they're available. Thanks.

I will. I met with my friends yesterday and gave them a sample I put together showing basic details. They have some ideas and should get a sample back to me in a while. I discussed the idea of razor stands and display boxes too. My friends are harness makers and blacksmiths, his brother runs a woodworking shop, a cousin is a potter so we have some interesting plans on mugs too. While I do the paddles and hanging strops here cases, stands, etc.... are beyond the time constraints I have and my Amish friends have proven time and time again that their attention to detail and handywork is first class. They make things I am proud to own and adding their skills to some of my products will only serve to make them even better.
I'll be making a post later in "Off Topic" about the wonderful hardware they produce, hinges, latches, etc..... and they have asked me to help them find a market beyond Lancaster Country. I will be adding some of their nice hand tooled belts, etc... to my site too.

Somebody should make a strop that you can wear as a belt. Doesn't get more travel strop than that.

Thanked: 346They do. They're technically gunbelts for the concealed carry crowd, but they're about 2" wide, double layer, stitched and glued, with a plastic stiffener between the two pieces of leather. They're also very good general-purpose non-dress belts, because they're made like a tank. I've worn mine every day for about 6 years and it shows very little wear or distortion. Mine is unstamped so it's suitable for stropping.

Interesting. I was thinking 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" width. Just a nice thick strip of leather, no stitching or stamping. The stiffness of those belts would be a definite plus though.
