    Thumbs up Thank You Sir!

Searching Cerium Oxide... I find the YC mentioned in the same context. Looks like it is used a lot in optical grinding and polishing gemstones. That could explain why it why it leaves zero micro chipping on the stainless.

I'm not sure the two are the same, but looks like I have a more finite search.

    Thanks!

Glen, what type did/do you have if not powder?

I'm not sure what medium this bar is at woodcraft, but I'm gonna pick one up tomorrow. I assume I'll be able to use it to paste a balsa wood paddle. Why do you prefer a powder version?

For the same reason I stopped using the Green CrOx from Woodcraft I know for sure the Green is not pure .50 Cr it is mixed with Alum oxide so I figured the the Yellowstone was a mix also (no proof) so then I started searching for the powdered form just like the powder Cr and never found it... The good news is my computer skills are not all that great so maybe you guys will find it....

I looked briefly and didn't see anything either.

I'm a little confused, though. If you had good results from it (ie it performs like a 0.25 chromium oxide), why care so much exactly what's in it?

I could understand hunting for something potentially better (powdered version), but why stop using it in the meantime?

What you from Woodcraft will be like bar of chalk. It powders very easily. I drew it on to my strop like a crayon.

Its because the ChrOx bars from most woodcraft suppliers are cheaters. They actually contain a large amount of Aluminum Oxide at a higher grit than .5. It also leaves a harsh finish.

The thing was that the improvement was not noticeable at all over pure .50 CrOx but was more noticeable over the Woodcraft .50 CrOx does that make any sense at all???
Anyway if anyone finds the pure powder send me a pm as I would be interested in getting some too....
