Thanked: 4942Antique Travel Strop
Hi Guys,
I thought you would get a kick out of this hanging straight razor travel strop that I picked up over the weekend.
It comes in a leather case that is about 6 inches long by a little over an inch wide. The leather is soft and like mounted to thin cardboard. The strop itself folds in two to fit in the case. The strop has hardware to be hung from and there is about 12 inches of stropping length and an inch of width. There are actually two small strops here. One is a very nice leather and the other is a linen.
I suspect this could have been made from the 20's-50's but not sure.
It actually is pretty cool. I have not seen another, but they have to be out there.

Now that's neat! Now you have a model to make new one's to. I've read a bunch of posts where some of us are frustrated about traveling w/ a strop. Guess we know what good is! The closest I've com to a traveling strop is a couple of hones with leather mounted on the back side in two different methods.
Thanks for posting.“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)

Thanked: 199I thought having a crease in the leather like that was not desirable in a strop, hence why strops aren't rolled tightly for shipping or travel?

That is cool. Where'd you find it? I have an old loom type strop that is supposed to be from the late 1800's in the original box with instructions. I'll have to post some pics...

Thanked: 132That looks like a cool item to add to your collection Lynn...and as another member pointed out...it could be something to copy and market.
Too fun!
Thanks,
