can humidity damage a strop?
I don't have a lot of space, so I keep my strop hanging in my small bathroom. Its gets kind of humid in there despite using the fan. Can this harm a strop?

Thanked: 993I would suggest keeping your strop out of the bathroom. Excess humidity can make life difficult for a strop. I would suggest placing a hook in your bathroom so you can hang your strop when you need to, or you can strop out of the bathroom.
My strops are kept in a little nook in our house, and I strop my razor before heading into the bathroom.

Thanked: 275There are some molds and mildews that grow on leather. I don't know whether using lots of neatsfoot oil would help, or hurt.
I'd keep the strop out of the bathroom.

Agreed. I wouldn't let the strop live in the bathroom, Just bring it in when you need to.
I have a rather larger walk in Wash area, Walk in Closet, and a Tub, with a seperate shower room. My Walk in Closet has become my shave den of shorts. I have those white wire shelves, with a rack on the side. I use carabiners to hang my strops on those. Works well. I rub the strops down with my hand from time to time...Humidity there, does not seem to be an issue...We have assumed control !

Leather is organic and will host mold, mildew and fungus. All of these things prefer the moisture your small bathroom will supply in abundance.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain
