I'm just going to throw this out there:

There are a number of people on this site, myself included, who have made or are making their own strops for quite a low price. Often, they are procuring the leather from a true leather shop, and using equipment from a hardware store to help keep their costs in line.

If you're not the DIY type and are looking for a proper strop you'll find that the prices are quite varied, but are generally between $50 and $90. There are some sites that have lower prices and great materials (such as whippeddog.com, Ruprazor), and you may be able to find an Illinois strop for $40 if you look hard.

What I'm saying is that if you're going retail, you'll get what you pay for. I have no experience with Selective Strops, but at $13.50 I'm a little skeptical about its quality.....based solely on the price.

FWIW, I'd scroll on over to a couple reputable shaving sites such as SRD, ClassicShaving, ShavingShop, VintageBlades, RupRazor, etc. to see what they offer in terms of leather and material.

    Just my two cents,
