Often what happens is that after a razor has been screwed it sits in a drawer for sometimes generations before finally giving birth to a lovely new blade at the hands of our resident midwives (aka restorers).

Sexing razors is a tricky thing actually. Bit like chickens. Even if you do sex them correctly and try to breed them, they are worse than Pandas. I've even tried showing mine razor pron to no avail...

I bought a leather razor case off eBay last year and the seller included a straight razor "for free" with the deal.

Obviously this razor sat in a dark drawer for decades, "resting." And you're right. The edge did grow. . . .

    It grew cellrot.

Darn, two years of Organic Chemistry, I was getting ready to argue armed with organometallic knowledge!

I'd like to think all razors are female, thats why I like frolicking in lather with them while they caress my face...

Have you really thought about the implications of this considering how hard it is to actually determine the sex of a razor?

If a 100yo razor is young, I imagine it may be 200 to 300 years before they able to pro-create, and possibly another 100 years before the male razors mature enough to actually get some. Best bet would be to purchase a new female and put it to rest with a vintage male, and you might have some younggins in 200 years, depending of course for how long the female carries. While she will be fine to shave shave though the hollow's, I would advise stopping shaving with her around the near wedge mark. Definitely do not shave with a female through the wedge-mester

It's only our Egos that make us think that carbon based organisms are the only ones able to regenerate. The truth now gentlemen : 'you've never stropped a razor and thought: ' gee. screwed up on something' only to put it away and in the morning picked it up and said:' gee not bad after all!!' what do you think happened? The Razor Fairy came in the middle of the nite!! No! Regeneration!(:-)

Sounds like you just thought you screwed up. Steel is carbon based btw, otherwise you would be shaving with an iron blade.

I read the fist page, and skimmed through the second page, I realized you guys were messing around haha. I'm a Biology major, its exciting when I get the chance to impart info like organic chemistry, especially since they cram so much of it into our brains for 4 years.

Lame, its an intereting science behind the development of a razor. 200-300 yrs before they can get some, huh? And we humans though our teenage years were brutal...

My razors range from 60-90 years old...it would appear they have not yet reached puberty.
