Thanked: 15I have the SRD modular paddle and at this point I realy like the wool felt pads over the scrub leather for evennes. That paddle also means I only need one tool to do it all, just change pads as needed.

Base for stropping, what do you use, and why?
That is exactly how I use my modular strop, with good results. Very light spray, one right off center spry 6"-8" away, going down and one left off center spray going up, and that's it. I have re apply the diamond once after about 15 razors, doing 5 to 7 passes on each. I think I could have waited longer to reapply.
Have Crox on the leather, .5 diamond, .25 CBN and .1 CBN on hard wool felt. You could use hard wool felt with the Crox spray. I just wanted to use the leather that came with the modular strop. Double O

Agreed, I don't see 2 or 3 razors being a problem but there are instances where I will do 10-15 razors in one sitting. I did 8 razors on Sunday at the meet. I've never seen anything come off the my felt bench strops but that stuff is so fine it could there and I wouldnt see it. When Ed bought it to my attention it did make sense.
With all the stuff in the air, what's one more comtaminant anyway.

I spray the diamond past into the air and wave the razor in the air. I guess I should wear a mask now.

Use sprays with a fine mist of distilled water. That will cure your airborne problem, more importantly will lubricate the stropping, better control and polish the bevel. Don't use leather.
I agree with JR, Chrome Oxide and Polish, almost any polish but Flitz and Maas seem to best & will deliver a stria free, super keen and comfortable edge. Paste both on fine weave new seatbelt type nylon with 2-3 in X s painted the length of the strop or foam. A used seat belt will have too much dirt and grit negating your polish.
Use a water mist on the polish strop.
If you want a super keen, foolproof, comfortable edge… Skip the Diamond and go to CBN, post polish strop... but that is a whole other thread.
