The point on inflection marks the transition from cold to warm stropping. This occurs around the 10-15 lap mark on the particular stropping machine used in the study.

Redefining the origin is theoretically possible but not feasible unless or until the price of personal-use Large Hadron Colliders drop significantly.

    Thermal induction -- QED.

Simple excitation of electrons in both strop and blade effectively shifts the origin without interruption of time/space continuum.

Re: "shifting the origin", how are you accounting for Heisenberg's principle of uncertainty?

As with Schrödinger's strop (which is of course simultaneously nicked and un-nicked), some scenarios defy adequate explanation or accounting.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Being uncertain about the application of Heisenberg's principle of uncertainty certainly removes the uncertainty.

    Indubitably.

Also, introducing a newb into the equation may assist as they are also often uncertain where to start. This may shift the origin.

There is also the Hawthorne effect to consider.

I forget that one. Something about scarlet letters?
