Thanked: 2I've started having the same issues. Initially, it was my wrist, but I built up muscles there and thought that was the end of it.
I now have about 50 shaves under my belt, I mean on my face, and my elbow has been killing me for the past week. It only occurred to me today that it is probably connected with stropping. (I'd been thinking I'm developing arthritis).
I've been using both ibuprofen & MSM pain gel (much better than Tiger Balm, btw) but have been interested in the root cause. This thread confirms my hunch. (No, I don't also have a hunch back).

Pixelfixed's brace is a great way to help the elbow recover. I wore one for a long time.
If the pain is on the inside it is medial epicondylitis.
Ice will also help a lot if used daily. If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Just a quick question how high is your strop? ie when mine is taught its just higher than my waist, which is fine for me (Im not sure what the optimum height is for stropping) but that works well for me as the left hand is locked in to midriff while I strop with the right. if it was higher I know it would cause some discomfort for me and possibly loss of form, but most certainly early fatigue.
Glucosomine tablets work well for joints, they helped me over the years.

Thanked: 2I tend to go with the tendonitis theory rather than the joint theory, so glucosomine would not work.
The top of my strop is about 4.5 ft off the floor, the bottom is about 3.5 ft off the floor when I'm holding it.
Do you think it would be better if I lowered it?

and also my fingers would go numb if stropping more then one or 2 at a time ...
problems have been solved !! as I had severe carpal tunnel !! surgery on right hand a month ago , all healed and good to go , left one should be good in 2 more weeks !! I of course had issue before , but if you have had issues with your elbow prior to the stropping issue I would get it looked at !

Please, Check in with your Doc before embarking on ‘strengthening’ exercises.
Couple thoughts/questions..is it ‘pain’ you’re experiencing or dysfunction ? Numbness, tingling, ’tight grip’ stuff like that..or Charliehorses’..??
The motions of handed ‘shaving’ are neurologically controlled in your cervical spine. The vertebrae in the top few inches of your neck. A ‘pinch’ up in there will translate into shoulder, arm, and hand pain and/or dysfunction.. and really need an Xray and professional opinion to ’de-code’ ?
I’ve been right there with shaving hand [predominatly R] dysfunction/pain. For me it ended up in a surgical repair which was a great’ ’Fix’. Shave jist fine now and consistently crushing beer cans with my hands [ ‘Redneck Re-hab ].
Really if it’s more than a little discomfort see a Doc..
