    Default Elbow Hurts from Stropping

I am noticing that I am starting to get pain in my elbow (razor hand) while stropping.

Any ideas as to why? Am I just too "tense". I am not bearing down on the blade when I strop.

    Thank you

In the beginning I would get tired quickly and start losing form, I guess it's something we all need to get used to doing on a daily basis. Build some muscle memory? Lol not sure.

I'd assume it's a matter of developing muscles that you never had used before. A sedentary person taking a 1 mile walk will cause soreness in the legs. I don't know. Just another shot in the dark.

Don't do anymore than 40 fabric, 40 leather. Take one Advil or Naproxson 3 times a day for the next week. PM your address and I will send my bill.

I bet that problem will resolve itself with time. With some practice your technique will smooth out and stropping will be as easy as riding a bike.

The therapeutic dosage of Ibuprofen is 2400 mg per day. You should split that into three doses of 800 mg each and preferably eat something when taking the doses. Also, frequent application of ice should be helpful. A week of that regimen, combined with some rest, should put you in good shape.

While it is true that 800 mg is the dose a prescription furnishes the dose in the over the counter stuff is 200 mg. If you have any liver issues take the 200 mg. When I was an ironworker I used to have to eat those damn things like popcorn to enable me to work with back injuries. Over the years it effected my liver adversely. Too much of a good thing. + 1 on the ice. Great therapy for joint or muscle pain.

I find that tiger balm helps a lot.

Anyway, I had a similar problem, only with me it was my wrist. Probably also because I used muscles I wasn't used to using.
I took care to rest enough and to treat the joint with tiger balm or something similar.
After a while it went away. I suspect I developed the use of the relevant muscles anough that it was no longer a strain.
