The roos tail is naturally hairless and is the most uniform and smooth of leathers currently known of.
This is what results in the smooth draw, as only the weight of the blade is run along its surface. This does mean however that it will take longer to strop with it.
The skin is also very tough for its thickness and will give you that rough, hot feel when you run the blade along under pressure. It will be more forgiving than cow leather to this pressure and it's suggested to round the edge less than other leathers when misuse isn't severe. For this reason people who are too rough with their strops will love the kangaroo leather the most.

P.S. Love the strop, it's beautiful.

Just received my SRD roo strop, and it is everything already said in this thread. I have the SRD english bridal leather strop, and I remembered Howard AKA SirStropalot showing me his roo, and decided to go for it. Great decision, this thing is beautiful and is now my go-to.

It gets better as it breaks in. You'll love it even more!

I still use mine regularly. I kind of switch between it and the Neil Miller Cordovan strop, but love both of them. Enjoy that Roo!!

Ryan, are you still in Oklahoma? I thought after NM, they were sending you to another base.

Nice review- thanks! Just received my SRD Roo strop and have used it once but I love it- especially the draw. It's my new- and only (accept for my paddle strop!, all the others I've destroyed!)- hanging strop to go to!

I ended up taking my "big mama" apart and tracing the holes and cuts onto my roo strop and put it back together minus the felt it works pretty good and that's what I was hoping for. Im pleased

I finally moved over to my Roo strop! Actually, I gave my truck driving trainer my Star Shaving Big Daddy along with a razor and soap because he expressed an interest in straight razor shaving. I've been good to my strops lately so I thought I was ready for a change.

Like everyone else moving over from horse or cow hide I was surprised by the thinness of a kangaroo's hide, but that might be the reason the stropping experience is buttery smooth. That's what appeals to me about it. When using the other materials there is more of a dragging effect. I'm assuming they all do the job equally well.

Straight razor shaver and loving it!

When I go through my stropping progression I go cromium oxide on my felt (if needed), then regular felt, roo, and then English bridal. Probably don't need English bridal but the roo has soooo much more draw than im use to. Probably doesn't do any more than the roo but I just always have since I threw the roo into the mix.

I have a Roo strop and just recently got a new English bridal. I almost lost my razor when using the bridal for the first time because there was so little draw and I was used to the Roo draw being my first and only strop. I'm praying that the bridal breaks in quickly ...
