Neil's Shell Cordovan is the best strop available. As a matter of fact, I need one more from Neil, which will positively be my last strop!

    Old school in style ..

BTW, to the OP ... beautiful strop ..

And for some of the other lads, have some respect this is not a face off who is the best match. Are you trying to kick my strop in the nuts?

My friend, if your strop has nuts,

    a. It is not shell cordovan, and
    b. The maker should be sharply kicked in that selfsame region!

    Regards,
    Neil

Just mentioned the thickness of my shell cordovan strop so you know that kind of thinness is not unusual. Measured a vintage Marshall Well "Zenith" strop and it is 2.2mm thick. Both are far thinner than a bridle leather strop I have. Your strop looks perfectly fine to me.

No nuts, legumes or other hard edible kernels, were used, abused, or involved in the manufacture of this strop! Only some Dark Cognac Shell Cordovan, linen, and the odd bit of metal!

I started making strops, because I couldn't afford one of Neil's beauties at the time. In the end, making my first Shell Cordovan strop probably cost me about as much as if I'd just hit 'BUY' on one of his... So I didn't gain anything, other than a desire to continue making strops! I don't pretend for one second to be at Neil's level, in terms of shear knowledge and design ability. But I certainly aspire to be.

Thank you Vas, for your kind comments about your strop - I'm really glad that you are enjoying it!

    Best Regards,

    Alastair.

I'm left handed but I strop with my right hand and if I use my left...it's all thumbs.

    Figure that out.
