I started making strops, because I couldn't afford one of Neil's beauties at the time. In the end, making my first Shell Cordovan strop probably cost me about as much as if I'd just hit 'BUY' on one of his... So I didn't gain anything, other than a desire to continue making strops! I don't pretend for one second to be at Neil's level, in terms of shear knowledge and design ability. But I certainly aspire to be.
