Problem with pasted strops is that a nice medium on a nice strop can be a good thing. However, it is darn near impossible to have someone follow directions on how and when to use them and when it may not work anymore and it's time for a rehone.
In fact, frequent need to rehone is due in many instances, to overuse of pasted strops, FMO. Also, it is darn near impossible to convince someone that it is not a substitute for a hone. All seem to have a 'More is better' attitude, regardless of instruction.
Lack of proper stropping on fabric, leather will send the newer guys to the paste. THEN, they get busy! Too late!

A pasted strop can indeed be a good affordable choice for a beginner starting off before choosing to invest in sharpening stones. I agree Sharptonn, less is more. When pastes are overused, the edge becomes flakey and will need to be re-honed.

Somehow I screwed up with sending an email to Dr Matt, which he never received. It's hard to respond to something not received .
Dr Matt has since reached out to me via PM.
We are sorting through my problems.
I am disappointed, though, in the personal shots taken at Dr Matt.
I like to think that there are a better class of folks on here then normally encountered on other forums.
    Thanks, Ron

This site is my "go to" place for assistance for all my wetshaving questions and concerns and I, too, have received help from Dr. Matt. I also enjoy coming here and appreciate the fact that this forum has remained a haven for purists and not overrun with non-shaving topics.

Humor is high-risk behavior and after getting to know the membership, I began to better understand some of the humor that has been exchanged here. Some members are also critical of certain things because they don't want us to make a mistake that they have witnessed.

Dr. Matt definitely has a sense of humor, along with helpful information, that he exhibits in his videos, which helps make learning fun. So do others here.

Blimey Jimmy, I now see how you injured yourself - going by your above statement I get the idea that your eyes must have been defective from the start seeing as how you tbought that person looking back at you in the mirror was handsome.

Gee, I can only guess at the number of accidents you had back then, like taking too long a walk on a short steel, or walking into a steel anb bashing your noggin and tripping...

My heart goes out to you, bruv.

    Sincerely,

That depends on how handsome you think a bull is to begin with. Twice as handsome as a bull, in my neck of the woods, ain't sayin' much.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I, on the other hand, look into the mirror and pure handsomeness is reflected!

    Why, you dirty rotter, Tom!

My wife told me there was a prowler outside the otherday, but I was too enraptured practising my enigmatic smile in front of the mirror.

If you had focused lower you would have seen that I sharpied 'love' and 'hate' on my fingers, like good old Bob Mitchum in 'Night of the Hunter' - it helps to get in part, don't cha know...

    Regards

You don't really need to practice an enigmatic smile, just try and replicate the smirk that comes with letting of a silent fart in polite company. I reckon that's what the Mona Lisa was doing.
