Thread: Nicks on a new razor

A finisher is a stone like a barbers hone or 12K hone. the hone you would use last when honing a razor. If you could post a photo then we could give better advice. but if you can see the nick then it might be to large for a finishing hone. But then again your eyes are probably better than mine. good luck.

Thanked: 580You must have dinged the blade somewhere along the way, send it back for the free re-hone is best option, a pasted strop will not remove it.

Thanked: 4826I don't know how I dinged the edge before either but it was only in my hands so...
The edge is very delicate and needs to be handled with care.
I put a small folded hand towel down on the counter and my razor rests on that when not in my hand, even putting it on the counter without great care can effect your edge. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 4942It is pretty common for people to nick up an edge. Happens to new folks all the time and they don't have a clue what happened. Happens to me still and I don't have a clue how it happens unless I drop one and then it's usually more than a nick. Usually, the small ones are easy to hone out.
Have fun.

Thanked: 7It's just below the p. it is so small. You can't see it from the back side at all and on the front side you have to look at the perfect angle

Thanked: 31Needs to be re-honed. Nicks not only have depth but width and length too. They are classified as edge damage not just normal wear. Second honing for free, wisdom of those who know and care for you as you journey through the learning curve.

Thanked: 7So this is a little better of a picture. Can you see the damage? Should I have it rejoined?
