New Roo Strop
Hey all,
I just ordered my first kangaroo strop from srd. I've only ever used Latigo before, so this is new for me. I'm used to just rubbing my palm on it a few times & them getting down to business. Are there any tricks to prepping/breaking in a kangaroo strop? Anything different I should do to keep it healthy?

Thanked: 580My current favourite is a home made roo strop. Ugliest thing you ever did see, but works a treat.

So just treat it like any other leather?

I think you would treat it like any other leather. I had the pleasure of stropping with an SRD roo that belonged to a friend. Very fast strop. Real nice stuff. I'd just palm rub if it was mine, like I do with the herd I already have.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I used to have a Roo Strop. It was very nice and different but after every stroke it wanted to punch me in the Labonza.

Been using the SRD Roo strop for several years. You'll be surprised at how thin it is. I thought it was an insert to separate layers when I opened the package. Thin, but extremely durable.
It's my favorite strop and daily user. I even have two replacement pieces just in case.

Howard
ps: I forgot this. When hand rubbing with hand or face oil don't try to rub it laying on a counter/flat surface. If you do it's likely to move and crimp the strop leaving a raised fold mark and it doesn't come out easily, if at all. Always rub it hanging and with modest tension.Last edited by SirStropalot; 11-29-2016 at 05:58 AM.

Will do, thanks. I have a hook beside my sink it'll be hanging from so that'll be the easiest way.

I've been using an SRD roo strop daily since last February, 9 months. I found it to not need any break in or rubbing of any kind. All I've done is strop on it. It is my favorite of all the leathers that I have tried.
