Yah nice vintage strop hardware is something to keep an eye out for, even if you come across a strop that is trashed you can it cheap just for the hardware. But in your case here everything is intact and so much the better. I'll stay tuned for the post clean up pics!

Really all I need now is conditioner I believe its as clean as its gonna get. Might buy saddle soap and try that. Trashed strop is a good idea ill keep my eye peeled. There was another in ok shape that was 2 pieces of leather no linen. Seemed odd to me.

A thing to remember is that the 'shell' is a very thin layer on the stropping side.
Don't rub through that or you may as well strop on the backside.

Thank you sharptonn, I did not know that. Like I said I used one of those magic eraser things and got no black only brown color. Actually no scrubbing just wet and wipe then wipe with dry paper towels. Maybe the "shell" is already gone?

    Some pics would help.
Heck! Push comes to shove, sometimes the backside is pretty darn good!

So this is post wipe down. Have it sandwiched between paper towels and a 12 pack sitting on it. Linen is soaking currently.

Yeah. It's there. I have one worn to almost that point. Slick as glass!
Time to condition it a lot and rub fire out of it with the glass bottle and the palm.

I think the only place to go. You can see around the end you got a bit overzealous trying to make the stamp stand-out. Lots of quality leather conditioner, smooth glass bottle and tons of palm.
It will get there before you know it!
The HD stuff seems to be the same as the Bick4.
Bick is popular with horse tack folks.
