I like the Scrupleworks line a lot, and Torolf is a good guy to deal with. Traditional American barber's cut 2-1/2" x 24" is my favorite as to format, although 2"-wide works well for me as well. The oil-tanned Horween is a mid-range as to draw. Not a bad sensation and good in starting out IMO. In staying with the Scrupleworks line, I would suggest trying the vegetable-tanned horsehide as it has a slicker (faster, lighter) draw than the oil-tanned. The Swedish bridal has the most draw. I prefer a lighter draw in general.

Thanked: 104I'd hazard a guess, and say the Kanayama is different to the others in two ways, firstly the Kanayama is 68mm (2.72 inches) making a little wider, and you do notice it. Secondly, it comes as a 3 piece strop on the #70000 and the #80000. This 3Rd piece is horsehide, and it is a suede finished leather. I like it, I incorporate it into my routine for every razor and have great results. If it does anything major, I'd doubt it. I can say in my use of it, it works. Cordovan leather is the common denominator in all those strops, and no doubting that is the key ingredient in its slick draw.
