Kanayama #50k!!!
I pulled the trigger on a Kanayama strop!!! I have been dreaming of the day I would finally get this. I mean come on guys, it's not easy trying to convince your friends and loved ones why a piece of leather is worth $200.
Most think I have completely gone off the deep end and are probably arranging an intervention as I type this. So worth it.

Some have hobbies costing sums making a Kanayama 90K look like Chump change.

I have known people who were into bass fishing. They can spend $50,000 or more for a bass boat. Then they can spend another $50,000 on a pickup truck to tow the boat. Then, they may spend $500,000 to purchase a vacation home on a bass lake. So they already have $600,000 sunk into their pastime even before they spend a few thousand dollars on rods, reels, and baits that will allow them to catch fish. And then there is the possible cost of the divorce attorneys and alimony payments that may come after their wives accuse them paying more attention to fish than to their spouse.
If you have a severe case of various acquisition disorders, you might spend a few thousand dollars on razors, hones, strops, soaps, etc. However, it is unlikely that even the most ardent fan of wet shaving will ever spend anywhere near $1/2 million on the hobby.
Thus, as others have advised, enjoy your purchase. Enjoy the appearance of the strop, enjoy the smell of the leather, enjoy the feel of the smooth surface, and enjoy the sound as you glide sharp steel across the leather. But most of all, enjoy the shave you get from a properly stropped edge.
